Formula 1 Extends Pirelli Tyre Deal Through 2028

Formula 1 and the FIA have extended Pirelli’s role as the exclusive tyre supplier for Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy through the end of the 2028 season.

The move continues one of F1’s longest-running technical partnerships. Pirelli first appeared in the championship’s inaugural 1950 season and has served as Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier since 2011.

The extension comes as F1 continues its global expansion and works through the latest generation of technical regulations introduced in 2026. For teams, it provides continuity with a supplier central to performance, safety, and race strategy.

Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said Pirelli’s “technical brilliance and focus on performance, innovation, and sustainability” have made the company a key partner as the sport pushes its regulatory framework forward.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the agreement provides “stability for the championship” and reflects the strong collaboration between the FIA, Formula 1, and Pirelli.

For Pirelli, the deal keeps Formula 1 at the center of its research and development work. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli’s Executive Vice Chairman, called F1 “the best laboratory” for testing new technical solutions that can ultimately benefit road tyres.

With the extension in place, Pirelli will continue shaping the on-track product across F1’s top development ladder through 2028.
